Allied Health · Admissions Guide
These are not two names for the same course. Since the NCAHP Act came into force, the difference decides which register you appear on, what you may call yourself, and what you can study next.
Why This Suddenly Matters
For years, allied health ran with little central regulation. That changed in 2021.
The Two Routes

Common Questions
Quick answers before you choose a route.
No. It's a recognised route into skilled technical work, and hospitals employ diploma holders. It's shorter, cheaper, and gets you earning sooner. The point isn't that diplomas are bad โ it's that they're a different qualification from a degree, and you should know which one you're buying.
Some universities offer lateral entry or bridge routes, but availability varies by profession and institution. [VERIFY โ confirm whether a bridge route exists for our own programmes before publishing.]
Nothing โ it isn't a real category. Ask for the exact wording that will appear on the certificate, and which body awards it. Any institution unwilling to put that in writing is one to be cautious with.
Yes. Under the NCAHP Act, practising as an allied health professional without enrolment on the Central Register or the relevant State Register is prohibited. Registration is two-step: the national register and your State Allied and Healthcare Council.
No. Nursing is regulated separately by the Indian Nursing Council and state nursing councils, not under NCAHP. GNM and B.Sc Nursing are both distinct nursing qualifications with their own standing.
